Politics and Opinion

Politics***I've had a tough time choosing who I'm going to vote for this year. I'm certainly a Republican. However, I feel like the choice is between two democrats this year. Yes, McCain claims to be a Rebuplican, but he prides himself on "crossing party lines" on many issues--some I just don't agree with.

So which man is capable, competent, and intelligent enough to lift our economy out of its current slump?? I would like to hear some well-thought out comments that don't include the mud-slinging!! A President should be able to stand on his own opinions--w/out having to taint his opponent in the process. McCain is certainly a dirty fighter (mud slinger), and that doesn't sit well with me. I think it's insulting to my intelligence.

I've heard many people say that one should vote for one's party irregardless of the credentials or likeability of the candidate. I don't agree. I think a candidate should earn their votes. I want heart-felt, articulate, intelligent answers--and a lot less cut-throat politics.

I do like both the VP nominees. I think both Sarah Palin and Jo Biden are good choices for VP. Sarah is likeable and Jo is a leader I would follow. But this ISN'T a popularity contest!! I would love to hear Palin step away from her memorized rhetoric and say something candidly. Jo appears to be a man who could handle the Presidency.

I worry about Barack's inexperience, and I get queezy every time McCain uses the term "friends" in each of his responses. I feel like the term "friend" is a special title that has to be earned--and he uses it all too carelessly. Hunter and I have been following the debates, reading up on the issues, and discussing our views on each of the candidates, but we've both struggled with this election. We'll have to decide soon.

What's your stand???

Sorry, this is a long one...
Mud slinging? But sometimes there's just so much and if it's so clean how can it not be slung? The problem is, neither candidate in my opinion is worthy of this presidency. How could we end up with 2 such spineless, inconsistent, socialist slime-bal...Ooops, too much mud. When it comes down to it, I have to go with the one that's pro-life and since McCain's the only one going that way, I guess I'll have to vote for him. I really get ticked off when people choose not to vote, so in this case I guess I just have to go with the one that that's not the most psycho.
I think it may be a bit difficult to find an unbiased site as most people are pretty opinionated when it comes to their beliefs. Here are a few well informed sources on the conservative side: townhall.com provides tons of articles from all over the country and can give links to the following: Charles Krauthammer, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, George F. Will, Johah Goldberg, Michael Medved, and Jennifer Roeback Morse. Also, go to their actual sites http://www.johnmccain.com/ and http://my.barackobama.com/
Chris is Mr. Politics if you want to check out his blog: http://etosamoe.blogspot.com/ and has a blurb from Obama's own mouth mentioning his plan to raise taxes to spend 1 trillion more back-a-roos while McCaine wants to cut. If you want a taste of liberalism go to the major networs:MSNBC,NBC, CNN, ABC, etc.
Good luck!

This is actually Obama's site.
Really, I'm so sorry that last one was so long.

Don't be sorry, Becky! I love hearing people's opinions. We ALL should have one, and we all should be doing everything in our power to select the right guy---right??? I appreciate your comments. Thanks. I'll check out those sites :-) You know, even good friends can have opposing opinions...it makes the world a little less predictable :-). I love it!

Political talk from both sides with a background of LDS folks. Very good.

Oh man I am with you all the way. I don't like McCain enough to feel good about voting for him, but then I dislike Obama's policies even more. I think Obama is a much better speaker and connects with the people better, but in the terms of getting the job done I think McCain would do a better job. My sister told me to watch John Stossel's Politically Incorrect Guide to Politics on-line. I will have to check it out.

Can I just say I do not like McCain. However, I like Obama even less. So here is how I needed to make my decision. I am now part of a military family. Since Christian joined the army I need to think about who would be the best for the military and their families. I have talked to many a service men and have looked at the poles from the service men. Most of them including me and my family would like McCain to win. He would be the best Commander in cChief.
I also believe that he is the most qualified to help our economy. I do not like the plan of "spreading the wealth" although I would benefit greatly from that. If I wanted to live in a socialist country I could move to Canada or England. However, I do not want that so I stay here in the USA. I don't think that in an economy like this raising taxes, even if it is for the rich, will do anyone any good.

So for my closing argument....Please do not let the funding be taken away from the troops. I don't want to lose my husband because the lack of money. Please do not let our taxes get raised. Last but not least...Please do not let their be a super majority, President, house and senate (Democrate), be the final choice. Can you just imagine what that would mean. Please vote for McCain although not my first choice he is a better choice then Obama!
